Odor Eater?

Okay, I'd like to move on from thoughts and descriptions of doggie deposits on my rug as much as anyone, but I am still dealing with it, and I figure who better to help than the Internets?

The spots are coming out very well, but I think I have an odor problem. I mean the rug has odor. I don't have a very good nose so I'm not sure if it's the smell of dog doo, carpet cleaner, baking soda, or some unholy combination of them all. I wish it would be sunny so I could put the thing outside. What's my best bet for stench removal? Will an Oxy-something product help?

Oh, and while you're at it, what's the answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything?

You need an enzime cleaner. They sell them at the pet store. I like Nature's Miracle Stain and Oder Remover or BacOut.

Cleanse it with fire! :D

I have no answers - we had to throw our area rug out after our beagle ate a tub of butter and then... well, you know. We steam cleaned it, used every kind of cleaner imaginable... and then threw it out.

Good luck - hopefully you don't have our same fate!

I'd just rub more poo all over the rest of the rug...that way it will match!

Well, it's 42. I don't know you well, but I figured you knew that. :)
As for the rug, we used Nature's Miracle (cat pee) and for one-time accidents, it took the smell right out. Assuming it's an area rug, a couple good spot-cleanings and you'll know if it can be saved.
